The Steel String Regulators offer music from Appalachia with a modern twist on everything from Country Blues to Old Time. Bradford Carson (Guitar, Bnajo, Mandolin, Vocals) has been playing and teaching music for 20+ years. He studied Jazz and Classical Performance at Virginia Commonwealth University, learning from some of the best in music education. Bradford has received many awards through the years for solo and ensemble performances, most recently placing 3rd in the open category of the final Transylvania Old Time Music Competition in Brevard, NC. Bradford has been privileged to play with esteemed musicians such as 2 time Florida State Banjo Champion Mary Z. Cox, and Mike Ashworth of the Grammy Award winning Steep Canyon Rangers. Bradford is joined by Owen Grooms (Banjo, Mandolin, Vocals) of Pretty Little Goat Band, who has been playing and teaching in Western NC for years. Owen is the current South Carolina Old Time Banjo Champion and studied music at Warren Wilson, with a focus on the music of Appalachia. Owen and Bradford both help run the Junior Appalachain Musicians program in Brevard, NC. They both play a variety of instruments, and often switch off as they play and sing. These two produce a sound and show that is sure to entertain everyone, and get your toes tappin' to some wonderful tunes!
